vines
I wanted to stick to my current theme of sceneries and refrained from adding a character in it. Though I kept it empty as a watercolor painting, the blank space is open for any other character to be slapped on to.
I added a monkey.

(Just don't remove my the watermark pls)
I'll just leave this here

Fairy Baby
The last of my four-armed baby series until I think up of a new batch.
PS: I use my camera to take pics of my paintings instead of scanning them. Scanning makes some of the colors look like crap. At least with taking a photo, the shadows give them some lomo look. Hehe...

A Gentleman Like Me
Aaaaand here's a video of myself while inking this
A Gentleman - Inking from Arianne Pascual on Vimeo.
Aside from wanting to share I how I draw stuff, recording myself makes me conscious about speed and technique. As if someone is looking over my shoulder and I have to make this look interesting.
Sorry if you get dizzy with how I turn the paper around like a DJ. Haha

sassy space ballet girl
Drawing girls with the same kind of face lately. Not that it's a bad thing for me. I get to decorate them like silly and they'd look back like they're serious.

Wow Locust, You're So Cool
Developing a more identifying comic style for my plague freaks in terms of line art and coloring.
My worries are it'll look like Skottie Young's (color palette) or Ben Templesmith's (inks) style but I'm just drawing it the way it feels right for me.

carousel sketch
Getting the poses ready and finding a good balance between believable anatomy and taffy-like anatomy.
As you can see, my soda is gone.
Planning the background sketch. Nothing too fancy and overwhelming that it takes the eyes away from the character but still gives an illusion of motion. I had to look up a lot of different details on carousels and tried to adapt them to my style.
Close up on the finished sketch. My next worry is what media I'll be using. Most likely pencils and pastels.

Broadway Star
Been listening to Chicago over and over again during vacation.
This sketch took several hours because I had kept changing my mind about the composition. I want it to be a wallpaper but also make it easy to convert into a portrait print.
The background elements are art deco while the costumes are inspired by burlesque. I hope it won't look like there's a disconnection because of the different genres. Then again, meh on the possible anachronism, this was fun to draw.

a Mushroom's Story Begins
Starting next term, I'll be busy working on my thesis animation. I'm very nervous 'cos I want it to look good, scared 'cos I'll be working on my own, excited 'cos I'm a masochist but very thankful 'cos I get to do what I want to do as a final project.
I'll be recording the blood and sweat of production on this blog. While the tears I will be shedding will be Plurked.
To start off, aside from the teaser poster, here's the first character study I drew half a year ago. When I was doodling some glowing mushrooms, I gave one of them a pair of eyes then thought of what else it could be doing. I came up with a story idea potential for thesis.
Most of the story had been ready in my mind but just proposing it was bloody complicated. There are certain formalities to go through first especially 'cos I'm in Multimedia Arts and not Animation. My adviser didn't get where my idea was going. Maybe it's from my poor communication skills. I was proposing the story until I realized I should be proposing the message first.

Pins and Needle
Most of the small details where added after I was pretty done with the line art and base color. I'm so unprepared.
I created Needle last month. She first had stitches on her joints but I thought it would suggest a scary background story - which I don't want for her. I replaced those with stitches on her skirt so it'd look like she made it from scraps of cloth.

Birthday Cake
I was hoping to finish this for my birthday a few hours ago. The inking finished before the day's end. Coloring is gonna take forever.
